I just got back from Portland where we were picking up equipment from the Werner collection. The attached document is a list of the machines we loaded into a rental truck in preparation for delivery to the CHM. There are a few exceptions - one of the 026s is an 029 (I think) and the 3604 was two models so I took one of each. We were unable to find the cover for the 026 until the last minute when we found it in the upstairs garage so it is packed in a large box rather than with the machine. The right hand end cover for the 407 had been removed so I set it aside to prevent any damage, to be boxed later. You guessed it, I forgot it. I am trying to arrange to move it by a private party to Fremont, CA where someone can pick it up.
The rest of the move went fairly well considering the circumstances. Thursday, my granddaughter Dana and I sorted through piles and piles of books and documentation, selecting the wiring diagrams and maintenance manuals, etc. for the machines we were taking. We packed small stuff in boxes, in card file drawers, and in machines. We bagged and set aside a pickup truck load of trash and stacked and boxed about the same amount that the Werner's would have to go through. This continued Friday while the riggers moved the heavy stuff out of the way so they could roll out the machines we wanted. They then covered them for protection and scooped them up with a 6K lb extendable fork lift, strapped them so they couldn't slip and took them up the hill to a covered rental truck parked on the street. I will send some pictures to Ed so he can put them up on the 1401 web site. The lawn damage was minimal and it should recover completely with the next couple of rains.
The riggers were real pros, they were there on time, they treated the machines with respect. They didn't take risks and they didn't whine about the amount of stuff they had to move to get to the equipment that we had selected.
I suggest that, after the equipment arrives, a member of the 1401 crew be there when the boxes are opened. I put a in lot of parts we may need in the future to keep the unit record equipment running. I'm afraid I failed to mark the boxes with their inventory as well as I should have but any of the 1401 crew will be able to identify the parts.
I just got a call; the end cover for the 407 just arrived in San Jose and since I will be out of town, can someone pick it up and take it to the CHM? It is at 1630 Montemar Way, San Jose. (Meridian Road area.) The person's name is Rob Flock - his phone number is 408 269 3845.
